I am a Chicago based freelance photographer focused mainly on documentary projects. My recent assignments for Chicago Public Schools have taken me into some underachieving high schools to document their challenging "turnaround" years. Currently I’m photographing life at Marshall High School, and have previously created photo diaries for two other turnaround high schools, Harper and Fenger.
In 2009, one of my photos won a national contest, which led to a trip to Vietnam and a solo gallery show of the black and white images I shot there. I have exhibited my work with the Chicago Photography Collective, the Chicago Public Library and the Battrell Gallery. My photos have appeared on the Chicago Public Schools’ and White House websites, on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight Program, in the Economist magazine and in numerous other publications.
